Healing by Deep Breathing

Breathing-We do this all day, every day without a thought. Ask yourself this- when was the last time you took a deep breath?  Probably not as frequently as you think.

Ever wonders why breathing is so important?

The most basic functions of the human body, breathing not only fuels the body with oxygen, it can also clear a foggy mind and help strengthen the muscles. Taking just a few moments each day to practice some deep, conscious, yogic breathing to get number of benefits that affects your entire body-

Proper way to do deep breathing

  • Sit up tall or lie down flat to be in a position to inhale & exhale fully.
  • Close your eyes&Breathe in slowly through your nose, allowing your chest and lower belly to rise as you fill your lungs.
  • Let your abdomen expand fully and feel your body being filled with healing energy.
  • Hold the breath to the count of three.Then exhale gently through mouth.
  • Envision the toxins and negativities leaving your body.
  • Shift the focus from stressor to deeper, calmer rhythms. Repeat until you are completely relaxed.

When consciously controlling your breathing, you can become more aware of different states of mind. By activating your cerebral cortex through the process of slowing your breath, a soothing and relaxing effect is created within this process. By consciously allowing your mind to be in an altered state, you allow yourself to improve your physical performance.

Regular practice of deep breath will help you relax and carries tension and anxiety away with it.  Start with about five minutes a day and work your way up to 20 or 30 minutes for optimal results. So do include this exercise into your fitness regime & you will realize that you have the power to change your life within you through the power of breath.
